Lynchburg, Virginia

An hour east over the Blue Ridge, and a market of its own. Commercial construction and custom residential work across the Hill City and Bedford County.

A little under an hour east of Roanoke on US 460. We take on new commercial construction and build-outs, custom homes, and substantial remodels and additions, with the scope and the budget priced together and the assumptions written down beside them.

What we build in Lynchburg

Lynchburg is one of the communities we build in across western and central Virginia. If you are building somewhere else in the region, the answer usually depends on the job rather than the distance, so it is worth a call either way.

More about Lynchburg

Lynchburg is an independent city of roughly eighty thousand on the south bank of the James River, far enough east of the Blue Ridge to be a separate market from the Roanoke Valley rather than an extension of it. US 460 runs west back toward Roanoke, US 29 carries north to Charlottesville and south toward Danville, and US 501 crosses the river north into Amherst County. The Kemper Street station puts Lynchburg on Amtrak, and Lynchburg Regional Airport sits south of the city off Route 29.

The city is built on seven hills, which is where the old nickname comes from, and the grade shows up in the work: sites here rarely sit flat, and site preparation is a larger share of a Lynchburg budget than it is on comparable ground in the valley.

Education is the dominant industry. Liberty University occupies a large campus on the south side of the city and has been in near-continuous construction for two decades; the University of Lynchburg sits in the Rivermont area, Randolph College a little further along the same corridor, and Central Virginia Community College east of downtown. Centra Health runs Lynchburg General Hospital and Virginia Baptist Hospital and is among the largest employers in the region, which puts the same demand on medical and clinical fit-out that Carilion creates back in Roanoke. BWX Technologies and Framatome maintain a substantial nuclear engineering and manufacturing presence in the city, and that industrial base carries its own standard of documentation and inspection.

Downtown Lynchburg along Main and Commerce has gone through a long renovation cycle, with older warehouse and commercial buildings converted to offices, apartments and restaurants above the river. Rivermont, Boonsboro, Wyndhurst and Cornerstone each carry a different residential character, and the newer development has tended toward the southwest along Route 221 and the Wards Road corridor. The Blackwater Creek Trail runs through the middle of it. The city covers the 24501 through 24504.
